Be Part Of Our Journey
Incare
“You will help the blind to see. You will free those who are in prison, and you will lead those who live in darkness out of their prison.”
Isaiah 42: 7 (NCV)
Inside Prison Walls
The prison environment can be a dim place, where inmates face a host of emotional challenges such as sense of loss, loneliness, anxiety concerns over family members, loss of purpose, frustration and anger.
Interaction with the external community can address or help inmates cope with some of these challenges to complement rehabilitation programs already put in place by Singapore Prison.
Sharing Christian Love
CCS volunteers visit inmates in Singapore Changi prison several times a week, serving the needs of inmates whether as befrienders or teaching in areas of specific interest.
CCS volunteers who are predominantly Christians having experienced the love of God themselves, passionately volunteer their time to interact with inmates primarily as befrienders by providing a listening ear and sharing with them life skills. Programs conducted by CCS volunteers can be either Christian-based or faith-neutral to inmates from different religious background.
Incare Highlights
- One-to-one befriending (Faith-neutral)
- Crossroad, Alpha, Bible Studies
- 12 Steps Recovery (Faith-neutral and Christian based)
- Motivational talks (Faith-neutral)
- Chapel Service
- Music lessons (guitar, ukelele)
- Christmas gifting to inmates’ families
Aftercare
"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God."
2 Corinthians 9: 12
Beyond Prison Walls
Ex-offenders often face a complex variety of challenges after release from prison. These challenges evolve throughout their rehabilitation journey beginning from immediate release to several years after release:
- Financial and material needs (financial stability, shelter)
- Job sustainability
- Tensions or estrangement in family relationships
- Lack of pro-social community
- Breaking of old addictive behaviour
- Rebuilding identity and purpose
Community Support
Aftercare Highlights
Aftercare is dependent on CCS volunteers who walk the extra mile with our beneficiaries in various capacities:
- One-to-one support (CCS volunteers serve as befrienders or volunteer case officers to ex-offenders)
- Regular community gatherings (weekly or bi-weekly)
- Family support (home visits to ex-offenders’ families)
- Ad-hoc community events and excursions
Volunteering Opportunities
We have volunteering opportunities in the following areas:
Incare – Befriending, Faith Based and Faith Neutral Program Facilitators
Aftercare – Peer Support, Volunteer Case Officers, Program Co-ordinators
Family Care – Family Visits and Support

Volunteering Requirements
Eligibility requirements vary depending on the volunteering areas. More importantly we seek volunteers who have the right motivation and a genuine desire to help ex-offenders and their families.
